How to scientifically set cutting parameters (power, speed, gas) for different materials?

Release Date:2025-04-11 09:50:47 Number of views:501

Parameter settings must follow the "material-thickness-equipment" matching principle:

Metal materials (taking stainless steel as an example):

Power: For every 1mm increase in thickness, the power needs to be increased by about 200W (such as 1000W for 2mm and 3000W for 5mm).

Speed: When the power is insufficient, the speed should be reduced first. For example, the recommended speed for cutting 8mm stainless steel with 3000W is 0.8m/min.

Gas: Oxygen (combustion-supporting) for carbon steel, high-pressure nitrogen (anti-oxidation) for stainless steel/aluminum, and the pressure must be ≥1.5MPa.

Non-metal materials (such as acrylic):

Power: 40-80W for CO2 lasers. Too high will cause yellowing of the edges.

Speed: 3-5m/min. Too slow will easily melt and stick.

Gas: Compressed air (0.3-0.5MPa) to blow away smoke and dust.

Suggestion: Use the manufacturer's parameter table as a benchmark and fine-tune through the "orthogonal test method" (for example, fixed power, adjust speed/air pressure combination test).
